I've never seen a Japanese movie quite like this before. The film seeks to open the deepest human emotions in the most ordinary events in life. His works are a demonstration of the significance and relevance of emotions to the restless, captive, and tormented individuals of everydayness of our existence and relationship between constraint and freedom. This Takenaka's film made me see the mirror that reflects the depth of human feelings and thoughts. The impression of death is not always necessary to be understood as the negative aspects of life. That represents a lot more positive thinking to live than we can expect from a man ready to die at the same time. This is where Takenaka’s masterful touch comes in directing the role of art to discover, question, and expose these feelings and thoughts. Takenaka is just trying to present the death and darkness of negative aspects in life beautifully but very simple. As is always the case with Takenaka, the innovative use of images makes the merely tools for articultruing new kind of contents I have never seen. And sound is just as important as image. His use of sound image counter point in the scene, where lively music contrasts with dying dark mood is really meaningful to the situation. I really think the movie is directed to feel reality very well. Conversation in the film includes great concerns of people's feelings. The background is beautifully but tightly connected to the story to involve the audience in the story and to give us a sense of reality. Although there are many empty spaces where spectators can fill in and make a prediction. Takenaka allows the viewer to take imagination, which will make ordinary life more bearable, as we are more like our dreams than we are our real lives. This movie is very close to the nature and I feel it very close to me. In the way, Takenaka is wishing for something brighter. Finally his movie look to me to be searching to communicate and dream until he changes real life or he ends the spiritual journey from darkness to conform his freedom. Highly recommended!
